Just watched The
Station Agent (rented the DVD). It was excellent! The
characters are very real and compelling, and the acting is great.

I especially liked the way Fin's, I dunno, I guess his attitude
towards people in general shifts over the course of the film. He sort
of goes from being something of a misanthrope, to having these friends
that he cares about... But it's not done in a cheesy Hollywood
designed-to-be-heartwarming kind of way, it's just a character who
grows, portrayed in a very believable manner.

Plus it was nice that the fact that he's a dwarf isn't really all that
central to the plot. In fact, I wonder whether the script was written
to be about a dwarf from the beginning...
